From 1 July 2021, Egyptian importers or their agents will have to enter the information relating to each individual import of goods in a special system. This system will be called Advance cargo information (ACI), implemented by the Egyptian government which requires the entry of data and documents relating to imports into the country (commercial invoice and final or initial bill of lading) at least 48 hours before shipment of the cargo from the country. export.
The importer or his agent will then be obliged to register his information on the platform (Nafeza.gov.eg), uploading the cargo documents before shipping to Egypt to obtain the “ACID” registration number.
This procedure will be implemented in 2 phases:
– pilot from 1 April – 30 June 2021
– mandatory operational from 1 July 2021
Following registration, the importer or his agent must communicate the registration number to the forwarder who attaches it to the documents for the shipment of the goods.
The CARGOX platform (some Egyptian importers are asking their foreign suppliers to register) is a global platform that allows the transfer / sharing of important data or documents in a secure way and without the intervention of an intermediary. The Egyptian authorities recommend the use of this platform by the exporter in case he should share valuable documents with his local partner.
